Professional Development

Save Ellis Island offers Professional Development opportunities to help expand teacher knowledge about the history of Ellis Island and the process of immigration from 1892 to 1954.

In our Professional Development opportunities, teachers will discover inspiring ways to introduce students to the topic of immigration throughout US history. Our workshops support teachers’ growth in content knowledge and implementation of teaching strategies, including interdisciplinary skills, to enrich classroom learning.

Save Ellis Island Professional Development opportunities take place on Ellis Island with a unique opportunity to tour the unrestored Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital Complex. Save Ellis Island offers full day and half day programs for groups of educators (minimum 10 individuals). Programs can be customized based on topic, curriculum, and travel plans.
